• 50% increase in its fund pool
• the re-emergence of mega-funds
• unprecedented record of funds' final closings
• buyout transactions continue to dominate
• divestitures soar to a record high

• Japan dominates the private equity fund pool, capturing US$3.7 billion
• Outside of Japan, funds for growth situations soared by nearly one-fold to US$1.6 billion
• for the first time, development financing institutions sponsored debt funds

Investment Profile & Trends

• Buyouts continued to overshadow all other segments
• Outside of Japan, investors preferred growth capital situations,
  which attracted US$3.3 billion 
• China leads in attracting the largest pool of capital commitment, at US$1.4 billion
• But the US$1.3 billion attracted by India is a 2.2 fold increase from 2003

Exits

• 143 exits, double that recorded in 2003, 61% of which are profitable
• IPOs and trade sales shared an equal percentage in the exit profile
• investments in companies based in China and India claim the best returns, in multiples and IRRs
