APER 2007 Mid-Year Review

In the first half of 2007, the Asian private equity recorded substantial increases in both fresh fund pool and divestment activities, but the deal value aggregate has declined by nearly 20% during this period:-

Funds
  
  • US$15.4 billion of fresh capital has come into the market in the first half of 2007
  • Funds for venture capital situations surged to US$2.82 billion during the first half of 2007

Investments
  
  • Investments amounted to US$18.1 billion in the first half of 2007
  • For the first time, India led in both transaction and deal aggregates: attracted US$3.87 billion of commitment from private equity investors, through 111 deals

Divestments
  
  • A total of 144 divestment processes are known to have been initiated
  • Greater China and India dominated exit activities, accounting for 70.8% of the exit results
