INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS Lloyds TSB Development Capital, the private equity arm of the UK-based Lloyds Banking Group, has made a substantial allocation to China New Enterprise Investment Fund II. (People's Republic of China) FUNDS
Nanchang, a city located in Jiangxi province, is to launch Nanchang New Century Venture Investment Co., a 300 million yuan (US$43.9 million) fund. The fund will primarily invest in seed-stage companies, with a focus on sectors such as new materials, biomedical, telecommunications, energy and media. (People's Republic of China)
Siemens Venture Capital GmbH announced the establishment of Siemens Global Innovation Partners I GmbH & Co. KG, its first fund of funds with a target size of US$200 million. The fund's principal focus will be allocations to venture capital funds in North America, while the balance will be deployed to Europe, Israel and Asia. (Global) INVESTMENTS
Canaan Partners and New Enterprise Associates ('NEA') announced their respective investments in Indian mobile value added service providers. Canaan Partners has made an undisclosed commitment to mCarbon, while NEA has reportedly injected US$6 million into ValueFirst Messaging. (India) Navis Capital Partners has deployed an approximate aggregate of US$21.5 million to complete is acquisition of a 62% stake in Sah Petroleums Ltd. The company is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. (India) Intel Capital has inked an agreement with Zhejiang-based IT firm Enjoyor Technology Group ('Enjoyor') for an undisclosed amount. The injected capital will be used to help Enjoyor to further expand its operations. (People's Republic of China) AltoBeam (BJ) Technology Co., Ltd., a Beijing-based mobile and digital television receiver chipset designer and developer, announced it has received US$8 million from a host of investors including Tano China Private Equity Fund I, PYJ-Dynasty Venture Fund, individual investors from Stanford University, funds managed by Draper Fisher Jurveston and its joint venture fund DFJ Dragon Fund.
