China's NASDAQ Trades on 30th October

IFC to Invest in Cement Company

International Finance Corporation is considering an allocation of no more than US$90 million to Vicat Sagar Cement Ltd., which is seeking to raise over US$345 million. (India)




CIC Mines Deals in Mongolia

China Investment Corporation ('CIC') has invested US$500 million in SouthGobi Energy Resources Ltd. which has its main production assets in Mongolia. Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that CIC will also pledge up to US$700 million to Iron Mining International Ltd., which also focuses on Mongolia. (Mongolia)




Itochu Commits to Biotech Investors

Itochu Corp. has allocated US$15 million to the US-based MPM Capital's latest fund. MPM Capital is an investor in Taiwan's TaiGen Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Offshore)

Matrix Partners India has provided US$10 million to Siesta Hospitality Services Ltd. The investment came on the heels of the investor's recent commitment to Ver Se Innovation Private Ltd. (India)




Bessemer Consortium Takes Stake in Power Company

Bessemer Venture Partners, Citi Venture Capital International and Sequoia Capital have invested a total of US$100 million in Ind-Barath Power Infra Private Ltd., a power plant developer. (India)




Henderson in Shopping Mood

Henderson Equity Partners has made a US$17 million investment in Genesis Colors Private Limited ('Genesis Colors'), a luxury apparel marketer and distributor in India. Genesis Colors also distributes luxury brands such as Aigner, Paul Smith and Bottega Veneta. (India)





Carlyle to Drive an Automotive Software Provider

The Carlyle Group announced its takeover of Broadleaf Co., Ltd., one of the largest auto after-market software providers for the repair and inspection industry in Japan. No transaction details were disclosed. The target company is a joint venture between Olympus Corporation and ITX Corporation. (Japan)




Co-power Injects Capital into Brand Marketer

Shenzhen Co-power Venture Capital Co., Ltd. announced its Rmb20 million (US$3 million) allocation to Beijing Herun Media Co., Ltd. The latter was set up in 2007 and focuses on promoting brand marketing performance in China. (People's Republic of China)




Affinity Buys Out Energy Saving Equipment Supplier

Affinity Equity Partners has reportedly purchased a 94% stake in Beijing Leader & Harvest Electric Technologies Co., Ltd. ('Leader & Harvest') for US$200 million, according to the Financial Times. Leader & Harvest is a leading electric energy conservation equipment supplier based in Beijing. (People's Republic of China)




IAT Auto Drives with PE Funds

A consortium of investors including China New Enterprise Investment Co., Mitsui Ventures, and GSR Ventures has invested US$20 million in IAT (China) Auto Technology Co., Ltd. which is engaged in the development and design of automobiles, engines and auto power trains. Hony Blows Another Glass Asset

Hony Capital is to invest a US$100 million in China Yaohua Glass Group ('Yaohua Glass') and its affiliated operations. The capital will be used to help restructure Yaohua Glass.
      Established in 1992, Yaohua Glass is a leading brand in China's glass industry. (People's Republic of China)




US Software Co. Receives China Funds

Sinovo Growth Capital Management Co. Ltd. has teamed up with Tianjin Heguang Equity Investment Fund to invest an aggregate Rmb100 million (US$14.7 million) in Primeton Technologies, Inc ('Primeton') which is headquartered in the USA. Primeton combines novel technologies with the old idea of reusable components to create a revolutionary component-oriented middleware platform. Baring Takes a Sweets Deal

Baring Private Equity Asia Pte. Ltd. announced a US$135 million capital deployment to Hsu Fu Chi International Ltd. The leading confectionary company in China is currently listed on the Singapore Securities Ltd and first received private equity funds in 1997. (People's Republic of China)




Masan to Partner with Private Equity Groups

TPG Capital and BankInvest have invested US$50 million in Masan Group Corporation, a food conglomerate that is preparing to be listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange. (Vietnam)

Aureos Exits MillenniumIT

Aureos Capital Ltd. has sold its holdings in MillenniumIT, a software producer for the financial and telecommunications industry based in Sri Lanka. The company was acquired by the London Stock Exchange Group for US$30 million. The sale concludes a 10-year investment holding period by the investor. (Sri Lanka)
