Shanghai-listed Southwest Securities Co., Ltd. has announced the formation of its direct investment arm, Southwest Securities Private Equity Investment Co., Ltd. that has a registered capital of Rmb200 million (US$29.3 million). (People's Republic of China) The creditors of Taizinai Group ('Taizinai'), backed by Actis, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, have reportedly forced the dairy products company into bankruptcy, according to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post. In response to this, Taizinai issued an announcement stating that the company had not received any legal documents regarding liquidation from either local or foreign authorities. International Finance Corporation could allocate up to US$1.3 million to Husk Power Systems, Inc., which provides off-grid power to rural villages. (India) FUNDS
The Carlyle Group announced the final closing of Carlyle Asia Partners III ('CAP III') at US$2.55 billion. CAP III will seek opportunities in high growth companies. (Pan-Asia) Multiples Alternate Asset Management has completed the first close of US$250 million. A host of investors including Indian Overseas Bank, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and CDC Group plc have participated in this round of fund raising. (India) The Qingdao government has announced the establishment of the Qingdao Venture Investment Guidance Fund, which has a target fund size of Rmb500 million (US$73.3 million), while the Xiamen government established its first guidance fund, Xiamen Hungtu Venture Investment Fund. Investec Wentworth Private Equity ('Investec') has agreed to participate in the reverse takeover of Vocus Group Ltd. ('Vocus Group') that commands a transaction value of A$20 million (US$18.7 million). (Australia) Clearwater Capital Partners has acquired additional shares in Diamond Cables Ltd. ('Diamond Cables') for around 98.6 million rupees (US$2.2 million). Diamond Cables manufactures power transmission equipment and provides turnkey services. (India) Milestone Religare Investment Advisors Pvt. Ltd. has invested in Resonance Eduventures Pvt. Ltd. ('Resonance') for a reported 600 million rupees (US$13.5 million). Resonance is an educational institute which provides engineering entrance examination preparatory courses in India. (India) Bain Capital is planning to allocate around 3.5 billion rupees (US$78.6 million) to Lilliput Kidswear Ltd., a children's apparel manufacturer and retailer, according to local reports. (India) Walden International has led the second round of financing of US$13 million in Quatrro BPO Solutions Pvt Ltd. ('Quatrro'). Olympus Capital Holdings Asia also participated in this investment. Quatrro offers business and knowledge processing services for the banking industry. (India) Goldman Sachs Asset Management has invested an undisclosed amount in GlobalLogic, Inc., a software research and development services company. Earlier, Draper Fisher Jurveston, New Enterprise Associates and Sequoia Capital India had invested in the software company. (India)
Shenzhen Fortune Venture Capital Co., Ltd. has invested Rmb60 million (US$8.8 million) in Gvitech Technologies, which engages in the development of virtual visualisation technologies. (People's Republic of China) Sequoia Capital China and PreIPO Capital Partners have committed Rmb70 million (US$10.3 million) to Beijing Yicheng Bioelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., a specialised manufacturer of rapid diagnostic products for detecting glucose, ketone and cholesterol in blood samples. (People's Republic of China) Nokia Growth Partners ('Nokia') has reportedly invested US$10 million in Ganji.com, a Chinese classified ad website. (People's Republic of China) DIVESTMENTS
Intrasoft Technologies Ltd. ('Intrasoft'), backed by Intel Capital, was listed on the Indian bourses. Its shares closed 9.9% higher than the offering price. Intrasoft engages in providing electronic greeting cards, the development of associated digital content, and online marketing. (India) China Minzhong Food Corporation Ltd., a Chinese integrated vegetables processor, was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
