Australia's biggest brewer, Foster's Group Ltd., has announced its decision not to accept a cash offer of between A$2.3 billion to A$2.7 billion (US$2.1 billion to US$2.5 billion) from "an international private equity firm" for its wine assets consisting of Treasury Wine Estates. According to other media reports, it is still being wooed by the likes of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and TPG. (Australia) Stella Travel Services, controlled by CVC Asia Pacific, will merge with ASX-listed Jetset Travelworld Ltd. The enlarged merged unit will have a market capitalisation of A$351 million (US$323 million). (Australia) Archer Capital and Ironbridge Capital Pty. Ltd. have reportedly expressed interest in bidding for WSN Environmental Solutions, the waste management business of the New South Wales government, which is being privatised. (Australia) TPG Capital, Anchorage Capital and Oaktree Capital Management, L.P have reportedly proposed a debt-to-equity swap and capital injection plan for beleaguered energy firm Alinta Energy which has an A$2.9 billion (US$2.7 billion) debt pile. (Australia) The proposed 500 billion rupee (US$11 billion) merger of Reliance Infratel Ltd. and GTL Infrastructure Ltd. ('GTL') has been terminated. Reliance Infratel Ltd. is backed by HSBC Principal Investments and New Silk Route Private Equity. (India) China Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd., backed by SAIF Partners, has reportedly breached loan covenants. Its shares were suspended from trading on Friday, 10th September. The Future Fund has participated in the €1 billion (US$1.29 billion) fund raising exercise undertaken by Haymarket. Established in 2009, Haymarket is backed by Canada-based Public Sector Pension Investment Board, OMERS Private Equity and TowerBrook Capital Partners, LP. (Offshore) Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd. has reportedly been invited by Chinese state-owned Sinochem Corp. to join a consortium to bid for Canada's Potash Corp.; there were also reports saying that China Investment Corp. may also participate in bidding for the fertiliser producer. (Offshore) China Development Bank has inked an agreement with the Chengdu government for an investment fund that focuses on urban development and infrastructure development in Chengdu's Longquanyi district. Development Bank of Japan Inc. has reportedly teamed up with Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. to set up a corporate turnaround fund that aims to invest about ¥100 billion (US$1.19 billion), according to Nikkei. (Japan) Navis Capital Partners has announced the final closing of Navis Asia Fund VI, LP., at US$1.2 billion, including a parallel Shariah-compliant vehicle. (Pan-Asia) Shandong Weifang Longwei Industrial Co., Ltd., a salt manufacturer and chemical conglomerate in Shandong province, has launched the first fund that focuses solely on China's salt industry. (People’s Republic of China) China's largest grains and oilseed importer and exporter, COFCO Ltd. is planning to launch an agricultural fund in China that has a target size of US$1 billion. It could partner with Louis Dreyfus Commodities, the world's leading merchandiser of agricultural commodities, CCB International Holdings Ltd. and Ant Capital Partners. (People's Republic of China) Suzhou Industrial Park is to launch a fund of funds that has a total target of Rmb60 billion (US$8.8 billion), with China Development Bank and National Council for Social Security Fund being the potential investors. Archer Capital has reached an agreement with the ASX-listed Keycorp Ltd. for its proposed takeover; the offer made values the company at A$47 million. (Australia)
A group of investors including Ojas Venture Partners, HDFC Holdings Inc. and Polaris Software Lab Ltd. has invested US$5 million in the Series B financing of Tyfone Inc., a provider of mobile banking, mobile contactless payments and mobile identity management. (India) India Alternatives Investment Advisors Pvt. Ltd. has invested 280 million rupees (US$6 million) in a merged unit formed by Frameboxx Animation & Visual Effects and Indian Institute of Financial Management. (India) Hong Kong-based First Eastern Investment Group is to team up with All Nippon Airways to set up the first low-cost airline in Japan. It will operate both international and domestic routes. (Japan) Beijing Zhonghai Venture Capital Co., Ltd., together with other investors, has invested Rmb7 million (US$1.03 million) in Beijing Ecoman Biotech Co., Ltd. (People's Republic of China)
Jiangsu-based GOVTOR Capital has invested in the first round of financing of Huinan Hongri New Energy Co., Ltd. which concentrates on bio-fuel R&D and production. (People's Republic of China) DBS Private Equity has acquired a minority stake in Meinhart Group International Holdings Ltd., an engineering, planning and management consultancy company. No transaction details have been disclosed. (Singapore) Aureos Capital Ltd. has announced its US$2.2 million commitment in Unitrio Technology Co., Ltd., a data provider. (Thailand) DIVESTMENTS
ChrysCapital has sold a portion of its holding in Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. and is estimated to have returned around US$24 million to its coffers. (India) Shandong Kingenta Ecological Engineering Co., Ltd. ('Kingenta') made its public debut on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and saw its share price rise by more than 85%.
